Lagos, Nigeria — Solar-powered internet service provider Tizeti has secured a strategic investment in November 2025 to expand its high-speed wireless network across West Africa. The capital will fund the installation of solar towers in secondary cities and support the deployment of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connections. The funding underlines the demand for affordable data.

Tizeti builds and operates solar-powered Wi-Fi towers to deliver unlimited internet access to residential and SME customers. The company monetizes through monthly unlimited subscription fees. By bypassing the electrical grid and using solar power, the company keeps operational overhead extremely low.

The investment will be used to expand coverage into Edo, Delta, and Oyo states in Nigeria, as well as scale existing operations in Ghana. Tizeti is deploying hybrid fiber-wireless systems, using fiber backhaul combined with solar Wi-Fi towers for the last-mile connection. This reduces fiber trenching costs.

High mobile data costs remain a barrier for internet users in West Africa, making unlimited Wi-Fi highly competitive. By utilizing solar energy, Tizeti avoids the diesel fuel costs that cripple traditional telecom tower operators. This low-cost structure enables them to offer unlimited plans at a fraction of mobile network operator prices.

Tizeti's solar-powered tower infrastructure represents a major operational advantage in high-inflation environments where diesel prices spike. By eliminating fuel costs from their tower operations, they maintain predictable, high-margin cash flows from unlimited subscriptions. Investors should watch how Tizeti scales its fiber-to-the-home rollout, as FTTH requires higher capital expenditure than wireless towers. The opportunity is significant for capital providers looking to fund infrastructure assets with recurring consumer utility revenues.
